Mona Behfeld - How much mediation does an artwork need?
12Mona Behfeld is currently finishing her PhD in art studies at the Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts and is working on the reception and mediation contexts of artworks. Her core question: To what extent can the act of mediating a work of art itself take on artwork quality or be content-generating?
In teaching, she has tried out many experimental formats and lecture performances in recent years to find ways of linking theoretical questions with practical experience in a live setting.
For Science Day, she is conceiving a lecture performance that deals with questions and perspectives of art education and links these questions to the concrete exhibition situation in the spce. This will include questions of perception theory (how do we perceive works of art in the first place?) and questions of media theory (what does the perception of art depend on?) in equal measure.
